All Baldwin ¾ and full escutcheon handle sets are designed to accommodate a 5-1/2” center-to-center spacing between the handle grip and the deadbolt.
If your door is drilled to a dimension other than 5-1/2”, we recommend you use either a sectional handle set or deadbolt with the knob or lever of your choice.
Yes, for our Prestige & Reserve product lines only. It is not offered in the Estate line.
The standard keyway used in Estate & Reserve is the C-keyway, this is a widely used keyway in the industry, but there are several others. These keyways are not compatible with each other.
As stated above, this includes the Prestige line which is only offered in the Smart KW1 keyway.

Yes, all three Baldwin sub brands can accommodate a 2 ¾ backet.
Both Prestige and Reserve utilizes an adjustable backset latch that accommodates both a 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset preparation.
For Estate products, tubular handle sets and keyed entry sets are supplied with an adjustable backset latch designed to fit either a 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset. Tubular interior passage and privacy sets utilize a fixed backset latch; although they are not adjustable you can order your product with the correct backset for your application.
Emergency Egress is a feature offered in both select mortise locks and tubular handle sets that provide simultaneous retraction of the deadbolt and latch bolt by the turn of the interior knob or lever of the lock set.
Emergency Exit is a similar function found in keyed entry knobs and levers that allow the interior knob or lever to activate freely whether the turn button is engaged in the lock position or not.
Both features assist in activating the lock and opening the door as quickly as possible, without having to manipulate the turn knob. This is especially helpful when fleeing a fire and also has an ADA benefit (Americans with Disabilities Act), making the lock easier to operate.
No, Emergency Egress is not required residentially in any state, but could be in a commercial, multi unit or hospitality setting.
Usage of double cylinder product varies municipality to municipality, but the general rule is if there is an alternate means of egress in the room that is not double cylinder, it is permissible.
We suggest contacting your local municipality to confirm if there are any hard restrictions to using double cylinder when trying to pass inspection or receive a Certificate of Occupancy.

Out of the package, all Baldwin Prestige products support doors that are 1-3/4 inches thick and thick door kits can be requested to support doors up to 2 1/4 inches.
The difference between Baldwin Reserve & Prestige is how it is offered.
The Prestige line caters to retail big box and online customers. It is sold as a preset configured set with no ability to customize.
The Reserve line caters to door shops, lumberyards and showrooms and is fully customizable.
Baldwin Reserve product features both C-Keyway & Smartkey, for deadbolts & handle sets. Keyed entries are available in C-keyway only.
The exterior portion of our handle sets are constructed of solid forged brass, whereas the knobs and levers are manufactured with a casted zinc material.
Baldwin Prestige product is packaged in a way that it makes it easy to unpack and install on the door.
The knobs and levers are not pre-installed on the chassis so that the installer will have easy access to the screw holes that mount the product to the door.
The set screw that will hold the knob or lever is in a retracted position to accept the trim during installation; as a result, the set screw prevents the turn piece from rotating. Once the knob or lever is installed and the set screw is tightened with the provided Allen wrench, the turn piece will rotate to operate the cylinder.
Please note: the set screw in the retracted position also limits the ability to re-key prior to installation.
Yes. Dummy/inactive handle sets are most used on double entry doors.

No. To be able to re-key a lock that features SmartKey technology, the functioning key that currently operates the lock will also be required.
Unlike the Estate & Reserve lines, Baldwin Prestige is only available in SmartKey® Re-key Technology, which allows consumers to re-key their lock themselves in seconds.
This technology utilizes a KW1 keyway, which is not compatible with the standard Baldwin C-Keyway pin and tumbler design.
Please refer to HD.COM or Lowes.com as both retailers offer the product on their website and can filter to what locations it is available in.
No, there is no compatibility for any product to be used together to create one lockset.
However, because of the finish compatibility you can certainly mix and match Estate and Reserve products within the same room or project.
The set screws are there! The Reserve line utilizes a reverse thread set screw. This works in opposite of the Estate set screw that threads into the knob or level shank and into the spindle.
The Reserve set screw is already threaded into the hub of the chassis and reverse threads out into the shank of the knob or lever to lock it in place.
No, the only product line that offers mortise options is Estate. Prestige is 100% tubular and Reserve features both tubular and multi point, but no mortise.
In most cases, yes. This is driven by the finish code. If the finish code is the same for a finish that is available in both the Estate and Reserve lines, it will match.
Prestige has much fewer finishes and the codes differ in some cases. These will not be guaranteed to match with either Reserve or Estate.
PVD stands for physical vapor deposition and is the strongest and most durable protective coating in the industry.
The PVD process includes multiple layers of nickel plating that are electrified in a vacuum to fuse the layers together to create a coating impervious to harsh weather conditions and heavy use over time.
All PVD product in the Estate line carry a lifetime finish warranty and all PVD product in the Reserve line carry a 25 year finish warranty. These warranties are guaranteed to the original purchaser of the hardware.
For the majority of our finishes, we suggest using warm, soapy water and then towel-dry the hardware.
Occasionally apply light machine oil to deepen the color and sheen of the untouched portions of the product. Coat the metal parts with oil and let it stand for a few minutes, then gently dab off (do not rub) , the excess with a clean cloth.
Never use abrasives, ammonia, or other harsh chemicals to clean your products. The purpose of the oil rubbed bronze finish is to patina overtime.
Please refer to the link below for additional information on our living finishes. https://s7d1.scene7.com/is/content/Baldwin/Estate%20Care%20of%20Finishes%20Sell%20Sheets

Reserve - https://s7d1.scene7.com/is/content/Baldwin/Reserve%20Multipoint%20%20Digital%20Template%202020
The industry standard for multi point calls for levers because in some cases, the lever must be thrown upward to engage shoot bolts in the top and bottom jambs of the door.
The torque required to do this with a knob is very high and will prove difficult for most.
This can be done by ordering the trim set with an “X” at the end of the part number. This will remove the standard levers from the set and then can add whatever style is desired as a separate line item.
No, there is no electronic option in the offering.
There are several differences including price point and number of styles, finishes, configurations and functions.
The Estate offering features more plate styles (7 vs. 5), configurations (6 vs. 3) and finishes (14 vs 10).
Yes, all four styles of pocket door lock trim that we offer are available in an entry function.
However, there are limitations depending on your door thickness for certain styles.

The PD005 Santa Monica and PD007 Palo Alto start at 1.5”, with the Boulder starting at 1.75”.
All four styles are compatible up to a thickness of 2.5”.
No, as of Summer 2021, there are no longer concealed mounting options in the pocket door lock offering.
All four styles are surface mounted with screws exposed to the interior.
Yes, the pocket door lock can be ordered a la carte. You will need to order a trim plate for each side as well as the lock required if applicable.
Also a cylinder would need to be added for entry function.
For further detail, please refer to the pocket door lock section of the Estate catalog or contact Technical Service at 1-800-566-1986 for further assistance.
A Cremone bolt consists of one or two surface mounted rods on the interior side of a door or doubles that lock in place with strikes on the top and bottom of a door jam and are actuated by a knob or lever.
Cremones are most often used on double French doors, casement windows and large cabinet doorsNo, the Cremone bolt offering is strictly for interior doors.
